Description
World 1 is an edition based on a painting (2019) of the same name.
In World 1, a decaying billboard stands tall as the sunset's soft and warm tones begin to fade, and the purple hues make way for the night sky.
Gomez uses hyperreal painting techniques to address themes of representation and visuality. His paintings, sculptures, and videos adopt the visual vernacular of Los Angeles, drawing on the postmodern mashup of urban sprawl, car culture, and natural beauty inherent to contemporary L.A.
