Description

World 2 is an edition based on a painting (2019) of the same name.

In World 2, a bright blue sky is the backdrop for a weathered billboard and the pigeons perched up on the power lines behind.

Gomez uses hyperreal painting techniques to address themes of representation and visuality. His paintings, sculptures, and videos adopt the visual vernacular of Los Angeles, drawing on the postmodern mashup of urban sprawl, car culture, and natural beauty inherent to contemporary L.A.
